Launch Story

How Modncv Became #1 Product of the Day on PeerPush — The Full Story

60 upvotes. 45 followers. 26 comments. Product of the Day. This is the story of how a career platform built in a bedroom in Bangalore launched on PeerPush and hit #1 — and what we learned about building something people actually care about.

Modncv launch day celebration

April 17, 2026. The day Modncv went from “a project I am working on” to “Product of the Day.”

The Backstory — Why This Exists at All

I will be honest. Modncv did not start as a grand vision to “disrupt the career industry.” It started because I was frustrated.

I watched friends — smart, capable people with engineering degrees from good colleges — apply to hundreds of jobs and hear nothing back. Not rejections. Just silence. They would spend an entire weekend perfecting a resume in Microsoft Word, upload it to Naukri, and then wait. And wait. And wait. Weeks would pass. No callbacks. No interviews. Nothing.

The worst part was not the rejection. It was the not knowing. Was the resume bad? Was the formatting wrong? Did a human even see it? They had no way to tell. They would change a few words, reupload, and hope the next round would be different. It rarely was.

Then I learned about ATS — Applicant Tracking Systems. Software that scans resumes before a human ever sees them. And I learned that 75% of resumes in India are rejected by ATS before a recruiter even opens them. Not because the candidates were unqualified. Because the formatting was wrong. Because a table broke the parser. Because the section header said “Where I Have Worked” instead of “Work Experience.”

That was the moment. Not a business plan. Not a market analysis. Just anger. Anger that talented people were being filtered out by software they did not even know existed. I thought: someone should fix this. And then I thought: why not me?

Modncv did not start with a pitch deck or a funding round. It started with a simple question: why are qualified people getting rejected by software they do not even know exists?

The Building — Months of Nobody Caring

Here is the part nobody talks about in launch stories: the months before the launch where nobody cares about what you are building.

I started building Modncv alone. No team. No funding. No advisors. Just me, a laptop, and an unreasonable amount of coffee. The first version was embarrassing — a basic resume builder that generated PDFs. It worked, technically. But it was not special. There were a hundred tools that did the same thing.

The turning point came when I showed it to a friend who was job hunting. He used it, got a callback within a week, and said something that changed everything: “This is great, but I also need help with my LinkedIn. And I have an interview next week and I have no idea how to prepare.”

That is when I realized: a resume builder is not enough. The job search is a journey with multiple failure points. Your resume gets rejected by ATS. Your LinkedIn profile is invisible to recruiters. Your interview preparation is watching YouTube videos at 2x speed the night before. Your cover letter is a copy-paste template. Each of these is a point where qualified candidates fall through the cracks.

So I kept building. AI Interview Preparation. LinkedIn Profile Optimizer. Resume Analyser. Portfolio Builder. Cover Letter Generator. Resignation Letter Builder. Career Analysis. Job Description Quiz. Eight tools. One platform. Every tool solving a specific problem I had seen real people struggle with.

The Early Users — When Real People Started Using It

The first real validation did not come from metrics or analytics. It came from a message.

Rohan Yeldi, a data analyst, had been applying for jobs for months with barely any responses. He rebuilt his resume on Modncv, optimized his approach, and landed a role at Morningstar. When he messaged me about it, I stared at my screen for a full minute. Someone I had never met used something I built and it actually changed their outcome. That is a feeling no amount of upvotes can replicate.

Then came Lakshmi Priyanka from IIT Kharagpur. She used Modncv for her placement preparation and said it “significantly improved the quality and structure” of her resume. An IIT student. Using my tool. The tool I built in my bedroom.

These were not vanity metrics. These were real people with real careers that were affected by something I made. That is when I knew: this is not a side project anymore. This is something that matters.

“I had been applying for data analyst roles for months and barely getting any responses. I decided to try Modncv and rebuilt my resume from scratch. After that, things started to change. Within a few applications, I landed a Data Analyst role at Morningstar.”

— Rohan Yeldi, Data Analyst at Morningstar

“As a student at IIT Kharagpur, I used Modncv for resume building, and it significantly improved the quality and structure of my resume. I would highly recommend it to any student who is building their resume.”

— Lakshmi Priyanka, IIT Kharagpur

Modncv community and early users

The early users were not just users. They were proof that the problem was real and the solution worked.

The Launch — April 17, 2026

I almost did not launch on PeerPush. The voice in my head kept saying: “It is not ready yet. Add one more feature. Fix that one bug. Wait until it is perfect.” But perfect never comes. And I had learned from watching other builders that the best time to launch is when you are slightly uncomfortable with the state of your product. If you are fully comfortable, you waited too long.

So on April 17, 2026, I hit publish. And then I did what every founder does after launching: I refreshed the page every 30 seconds.

The first upvote came within minutes. Then the comments started. Real comments from real people — not just “nice product” but specific feedback about what they liked and what resonated.

“The LinkedIn optimization angle is smart — most resume tools stop at the PDF export. Bundling interview prep with it makes this feel like a full career toolkit, not just another resume builder.”

— @vk89 on PeerPush

“Finally the launch of the product that got me hired!”

— @RohanYeldi on PeerPush

“An all rounder platform from resume builder to LinkedIn optimizer, AI quiz, AI mock interview... the all in 1 platform is so useful. They have students from IIT, IIM. Even I am registering.”

— @cucumimi669 on PeerPush

“I initially registered for resume building but then realised I could do way more. There is portfolio builder, super helpful. Much better than services that cost separate.”

— @newsreporterkerala2 on PeerPush

“A all-in-one platform to get you job ready is a beautiful concept.”

— @guncraze6160 on PeerPush

By the end of the day, Modncv had 60 upvotes, 45 followers, and 26 comments. And the badge appeared: Product of the Day.

I will not pretend I was cool about it. I was not. I called my mom. She did not fully understand what PeerPush was, but she understood that her son built something and people liked it. That was enough.

Product of the Day

But the numbers that mattered more came after the launch. New signups from people who found Modncv through PeerPush. Messages from job seekers who tried the tools and came back to say it helped. A student from Kerala who registered for the resume builder and then discovered the portfolio builder. A data analyst who used the interview prep tool before a final round and got the offer.

The PeerPush badge now sits on our homepage. Not as a trophy — as a reminder. A reminder that people showed up for us on day one, and we owe it to them to keep building.

Product of the Day is not the destination. It is the starting line. The real work — building tools that change outcomes for millions of Indian job seekers — starts now.

What We Learned

1. Launch before you are ready

If I had waited for Modncv to be “perfect,” I would still be waiting. The feedback we got from the PeerPush community was more valuable than three more months of building in isolation. Ship it. Get feedback. Iterate. The product gets better faster when real people use it.

2. Solve a real problem, not a hypothetical one

Every feature in Modncv exists because I watched a real person struggle with a real problem. The resume builder exists because friends got ATS-rejected. The interview prep exists because someone said “I know the answers but I freeze when asked.” The LinkedIn optimizer exists because profiles were invisible. Build from pain, not from imagination.

3. One user story is worth a thousand metrics

Rohan getting hired at Morningstar. Lakshmi improving her IIT placement resume. These stories did more for Modncv than any analytics dashboard. When someone tells you “your product changed my outcome,” that is the only metric that matters. Everything else is a proxy.

4. The Indian market needs India-first tools

Western career tools do not understand Naukri, campus placements, CTC structures, or the HR round. The comments on PeerPush confirmed this — people were excited not because Modncv was another resume builder, but because it was a career platform that understood their specific context. Build for your market, not for the global average.

5. Community shows up when you are genuine

I did not have a marketing budget. I did not have a PR agency. I had a product I believed in and a story that was true. The PeerPush community responded to that. People can tell the difference between a product built to make money and a product built to solve a problem. Be the second one.

What Comes Next

Product of the Day is a milestone, not a finish line. Here is what we are building next:

  • Deeper AI personalization — paste a job description and every tool adapts to that specific role
  • Industry-specific resume templates for Indian sectors — BFSI, IT services, D2C, government
  • College partnerships — bringing Modncv to placement cells across India
  • More content — 140+ career guides already published, with more coming every week

If you are a job seeker, try Modncv. If you are a builder, I hope this story gives you the push to launch the thing you have been sitting on. And if you are someone who upvoted us on PeerPush — thank you. You gave a solo builder from Bangalore the confidence to keep going.
